📣 Hi everyone, Executive Summary: Feedback-101 Survey Results of Recovery Options The DAO is pleased to present the executive summary of the 14-day community poll, conducted to gauge support for various recovery options for hack victims. The survey, which concluded on January 10, 2025, received a total of 260 votes and provided insights into the community’s preferences for asset recovery strategies. These insights will inform the design of an official remediation proposal to ensure fairness and sustainability in the recovery process. The survey presented six options, allowing participants to choose their preferred recovery pathway. Here are the results, ordered by the amount of votes: Option A only: Long-Term In-kind Payout - Received the highest support with 123 votes (47%). - Targets full recovery of assets in-kind over a longer time horizon. Options A & C: In-kind Asset & Rebuilding RDNT - A more popular hybrid choice, receiving 49 votes (19%). - Combines in-kind recovery with locked RDNT incentives for rebuilding. Option B only: Faster Liquidity with Discounted Payout - Chosen by 38 voters (15%). - Prioritizes quicker recovery via USDT payout with a 20-60% haircut. Options A & B: In-kind Asset & Discounted USDT Payout - A hybrid approach supported by 31 voters (12%). - Combines partial in-kind recovery with discounted USDT payout. Options A & B & C - Attracted 13 votes (5%). - Suggests offering all options to cater to varying victim preferences. Option C only: Rebuilding with RDNT for Higher Returns - Gained minimal traction with 6 votes (2%). - Focuses on incentivizing victims to support protocol rebuilding for potential higher returns. Analysis The majority preference for Option A (47%) highlights the community’s inclination towards full in-kind recovery, reflecting a certain degree of trust in the protocol’s steadfast commitment and earnest effort to ensure the long-term restoration of assets. While Options A & C garnered some support (19%), demonstrating some appetite for rebuilding incentives, Options B (15%), A & B (12%), C (2%), and A & B & C (5%) were less favored, underscoring a general aversion to discounted payouts or higher-risk/higher-reward recovery paths. The DAO was looking for a definitive signal to proceed with implementing either Option B or Option C. Such a signal would have been evident if a single option, or a combination of the two, had equaled or surpassed the popularity of Option A. However, Option A remains by far the most favored choice, and the DAO Council does not believe that significant TVL would be allocated to Options B or C, as these options were also mostly chosen in combination with Option A. Recommendations With Option A at 47% and none of the other options achieving 20% of the votes, the DAO Council recommends implementing Option A as the official remediation proposal due to its dominant support. Consider drafting a remediation plan for a convenience class, up to a claim threshold per account. This should have support from the council and ratified by a DAO vote. Wherever possible, maintain flexibility to adapt the proposal if hacked, recapitalization, or bailout funds become available, enhancing recovery speed and outcomes. The results of this poll provide a clear direction for structuring a recovery framework that aligns with the community’s preferences while supporting the protocol’s sustainability goals.
